So Sad

Three things:

1. Colt is sick. He has a horrible cold and has had a runny nose and cough since Saturday. At the end of his coughing fits, he gags. His coughing fits woke him (and myself) up almost every hour last night. The worst part about it all, is that there isn't much I can do to make him feel better besides hold him and rock him. He just isn't himself. My poor baby. So sad.

2. Prop 8 passed. Yay! At this point, we have won the battle to protect traditional marriage! I can't even explain the emotions I felt today seeing the proposition pass by 52% of the majority. It has been so hard living in San Francisco with the majority of the people thinking so differently than us. I have spent hours making phone calls to liberal people and handing out fliers, standing up for what I believe in. Now for the sad part. Yesterday, an anti-mormon commercial was airing on MSNBC, CNN, and Comedy Central. (On YouTube if you want to see it, but just a warning it is upsetting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q28UwAyzUkE). It broke my heart to see that other people look at us members of the church as being intolerant. People have not been able to understand that the goal was not to take rights away, but to legally define marriage as God intended it to be defined. All the hard work of over 100,000 volunteers paid off as they announced this morning that the majority of California had voted Yes, and yet moments later three pending lawsuits were announced to challenge the validity of the ballot measure. People don't get it. They don't understand the sacred institution of marriage and how important it is to hold it to the highest esteem. Marriage forms the foundation of the future of society. It is the stepping stone for husbands and wives to create and raise children. Why don't they get it? So sad.

3. McCain lost the presidential election. That was sad, but unfortunately not a huge surprise. I am proud to have voted for McCain, but so disappointed in the Republican audience present when he gave his speech after Obama was announced as president. Each time he said Obama's name, the crowd booed. McCain looked disappointed as he hushed them several times, and I was disappointed as well. The majority of our fellow Americans voted for Obama, and at this difficult time in our economy, we must support our leaders. We must stand together as a united nation. Why must we boo he who won the election fair and square just because he isn't exactly what we had hoped for? A friend brought up a good point on her blog when she said, "We teach this simple concept at Y-Ball games for 6 year olds. The teams meet on the court and losers and winners respectfully shake hands/highfive and say, 'good game.'" If 6 year olds can execute this concept, why can't we as civilized adults do the same? So sad.

Courtney you are such a good person! I felt so happy too about prop 8!! I wanted to suggest for you with Colter to put vicks vapor rub on his feet and then put on socks. It helps Kena and Benson when they are sick.

Amen to that, but look at it this way, you can come live in AZ in a year and not have to do with all the liberal conniving and hatred, our prop 102 passed also!

wow i clicked on the advertisment on you tube but after about 10 seconds i couldn't watch anymore. so disgusted with it. i don't know why people go after our belief. we are not the only religion that beliefs that marriage is between a man and a women only. crazy. we will just have to fight harder for our beliefs and as long as we do what is right we have no need to fear.

Court, I am so proud of you for all the hard work you did to help proposition 8 pass! That is so awesome! I watched that commercial which was totally ridiculous and very sad that they would twist our religion to be that way. I hope Colter gets better soon!
