Lake Powell

The last week of June was spent at Lake Powell, vacationing with Tyson's family. After three years of missing out on the annual Lake Powell vacation, Tyson was thrilled to attend this year. Here's the houseboat we stayed on:
I love being a girl so I don't have to participate in the manual labor of anchoring the boat into the shore.

One of my favorite parts of Lake Powell is the hours we spend playing games! I love that I married into a family that enjoys playing games as much as my family.

Jetskiing was a blast, as always, and even more enjoyable because Colt came along with us and loved every moment. I, however, was slightly terrified at about the same time that Ty decided to reach 60 MPH with Colt and I on the back!I was a little nervous about taking Colter to Lake Powell, but the weather turned out perfect. It cooled down at night and Colt slept pretty well. He didn't ever jump off the houseboat when sI wasn't looking, and he even liked his baby life jacket...thank goodness because he wore it a lot!
Tyson's mom brought a blow up pool to put on the beach for the grandkids, and it was perfect entertainment for the kiddos! Here's a funny pic that looks like Colt is picking his nose in the pool. Wonder where he learned that from?Kylie, Trudy, Lacey and me working on our tans on the boat on the way back from enjoying ice cream and root beer floats at Dangling Rope.
The happy couple, Max and Allie, reunited after two long years!
Me and Tyson's mom in our matching swimsuits. Wow, this picture makes me look really white!
Colter and Grandpa, the man who made all the fun possible!
Ty put Colt in a little pink, frilly floaty swimsuit just to see how he'd look. It was pretty funny seeing my little boy walking around in all that pink!
We spent all the time we could out on the beautiful lake wakeboarding.
My handsome husband is a pretty talented wakeboarder.
He even got up with Colter in his arms.
Colt wasn't so sure about wakeboarding when he first got in the cold water, but as soon as they were up he was pretty excited about the whole experience. Ty even went in and out of the wake with Colt!
I'm lucky to get out of the wake by myself without face planting, let alone with anyone else in my arms!
Wakeboarding is exhausting...
The last full day at Lake Powell was a little stormy and overcast, but it didn't keep us off the lake! The day ended with a beautiful rainbow.
A perfect photo op to capture all the cousins together at Lake Powell.
Colt figured out that if he stomps his foot, it makes a pretty cool sound. Here's a little video of our little stomper.

Happy Birthday Colt!

Along with graduating and moving to Arizona, June was an exciting month of celebration because our little man turned one on June 18th. I constantly hear other moms mention how fast time has gone with their little ones, but I never truly comprehended how fast time really passes until now. Suddenly my baby is no longer a snuggly baby. Sometimes I would give anything to go back to the early days of his life when he would just sleep in my arms, but I love seeing his playful personality develop. Life as a mother just keeps getting better and better. Colter is a curious, active little toddler and we couldn't be more proud of the little boy he is becoming. He truly lights up our lives with his constant smiles, laughs, and jabbering. He loves music, clapping, dancing, stomping, reading, and climbing onto any furniture possible. Colt has brought more happiness and love to our family than we ever imagined possible. Watching him grow as an innocent, happy child helps us forget our worries of the world and focus on what is really important. He helps us become better people as we strive to be the good parents that he deserves. Colt has been the biggest blessing in our lives, and we cherish each day we get to spend with him.
At one year, Colt weighs 23 lbs 6 oz (our 10 lb baby is down to the 60th percentile for his weight!), and is 30.5 inches tall (75th percentile).
The day before Tyson's graduation we celebrated Colter's birthday with a BBQ at a little nearby park in the Presidio. It was so nice that both of our families were there to celebrate!
At first he wasn't sure what to think about the chocolate cake in front of him.
But soon he decided it was finger-lickin' good! By the end he was covered in chocolate, and had devoured the cake. He is a boy after my own heart!
Thanks to our families for making Colt's first birthday a special memory for us!
Here is Colter at Tyson's parents' house on his real birthday, June 18th. He was overjoyed with all his new presents from his aunts and uncles and Grandma and Grandpa!
Happy Birthday Buddy, we love you more than words can say!

Introducing Dr. Tyson A. Davis, D.D.S.

Tyson graduated last week and is now officially a dentist! Three long years, numerous late nights, and more debt than we like to think about is all finally worth it! Only 26 years old and graduated with honors...I'm one proud wife! Here's Colt clapping for his daddy at the graduation ceremony. The Davis Family

Ty is in the process of buying a dental practice here in the Mesa, AZ area. Within a matter of weeks he'll be running the show in his own practice. Way to go Tys! I'm so proud of you!

Black Tie Affair

Friday night before Tyson's graduation, we had the opportunity to attend a fancy graduate banquet at The Ritz. It was so fun to get all dressed up and enjoy an evening out (complete with a steak dinner and dancing) with my handsome husband to celebrate his upcoming graduation!

Enjoying the Last Few Days

My family came to visit the week before Tyson's graduation and we thoroughly enjoyed a fun-filled week packed with last minute tourist excursions. One such excursion was the long-awaited visit to Alcatraz. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and we were not disappointed with the history of "The Rock."
We couldn't visit the Wharf without one last stop to Ghirardelli for a free chocolate sample.
We also enjoyed a morning showing my family around Golden Gate Park. First, we walked around the Japanese Tea Gardens.
After the tea gardens, we walked around the Rose Gardens. I couldn't think of a more perfect person to enjoy them with than my beautiful green-thumbed mother.

This rose was my favorite, I wish I could remember the name!

It was nice to have time to stop and smell the roses...
Before leaving Golden Gate Park, we stopped by the giant windmill in the tulip garden. We missed tulip season, but it was beautiful scenery nonetheless.

I had the opportunity to visit the Legion of Honor on one of the free days, and fell in love with the architecture, landscaping, and art. I had to take my dad (who taught me my appreciation for art) and brother to show them the famous Rodin statue of the Thinker.
I'm obsessed with these cute pictures of my little man walking through the columns outside the Legion of Honor.
Our fun-filled day was a little too exhausting for Colt. He quickly fell asleep on Uncle Cameron's shoulder when it was all over with.
Thanks Mom, Dad, and Cam for an enjoyable last week in San Francisco!

Goodbyes Are Never Easy

Two weeks before we moved, we hosted a Cafe Rio party to say good bye to our closest friends. It was a fun evening with delicious food, but it was so sad knowing it would be our last time all hanging out together in San Francisco. These girls have been my rocks here in San Fran. I couldn't have made it through dental school without them. They're so easy to get along with, and it was so comforting to know that I could call any of them if I ever needed anything. They were the perfect group of fun yet low maintenance, low drama, and extraordinarily caring girls and I am so grateful to have known each of them. We count our blessings to have had such good friends to share dental school with, and we were so lucky that while I loved these girls so much, Tyson also got along great with their husbands!

I have grown to love each one of these kids as my own. It was so fun having babies close in age. Caleb is the senior in the group by 5 months, and the other three kids are within three weeks of age, and little Siena is the baby of the group. Seeing them grow and play together on a weekly basis was so fun, and it was a mix of emotions to see Colt happily playing with his little friends one last time. We took the gate down and let them go wild in the kitchen and let them stay up past their bedtimes as a final celebration (really living on the wild side, I know). Colt's going to miss his little friends, as am I.

Go Giants!

Last week we took Colt to his first major league baseball game, the Giants vs. the Cardinals. Even though we kept him up an hour and a half past his bed time, he was so good for the whole game! A guy sitting two seats down from us caught two foul balls, and gave one of them to us as a keepsake for Colter. He loved that little ball! The hard part was keeping him from eating it!
Thanks to the Blacks for sharing their free tickets with us!
